The Great Gable Brewing Co. ltd is situated at the famous Wasdale Head Inn, the birthplace of British rock climbing.
Brewing wasd due to start in 2001 but foot and mouth put paid to that and brewing in fact didnt start till 2002. The brewery was the brain child of Giles Holiday and Howard Christie, co workers at the Wasdale Head Inn for many years and now Brew-Master / General manager and director respectively
The Brewery was officialy opened on the 23 October 2002 and has gone from strength to strength since then, boasting a huge array of beers on tap and its own range of bottled beers as well.
The current range of brews as well as bottled beers, mugs, t-shirts and like can be purchased from the hotel and in Ritsons bar, 10 yards away from the brewery itself !  |
